HDPE

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a sustainable thermoplastic material with exceptional properties, outperforming many conventional plastics. Exhibiting high chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, and robust impact strength, HDPE finds widespread use across multiple industries.

HDPE’s recyclability and non-toxic nature make it a preferred choice for eco-friendly plastic production and construction. Its malleability facilitates easy fabrication into diverse shapes, suitable for applications like water pipes, plastic bags, and construction products.

Additionally, HDPE’s resistance to UV radiation and weathering enables its utilization in outdoor applications. In summary, HDPE is a versatile, eco-friendly thermoplastic offering superior characteristics for sustainable plastic production and construction.

HDPE IS WIDELY USED FOR

  • Chemical tanks
  • Cutting boards for food preparation
  • Water pipe flanges (HDPE pipe grade)
  • Marine construction (pile guards, bumpers,
  • anti-skid surfaces)
  • Light duty tank, chute and bin linings
  • Outdoor cabinetry and furniture

FAQs About HDPE

General

HDPE (High-density polyethylene) is a thermoplastic polymer produced from the monomer ethylene. It is sometimes called alkathene or polythene when used for HDPE pipes. With a high strength-to-density ratio, HDPE is used in the production of plastic bottles, corrosion-resistant piping, cutting boards. HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number “2” as its resin identification code.

  • Easy to weld using thermoplastic welding equipment
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Excellent surface for food preparation
  • Good chemical and corrosion resistance
  • Easy to fabricate and machine
  • Low weight

Cutting board grade HDPE – meets FDA requirements for direct and indirect food contact, is resistant to hot water, and cleaning chemicals, and will not absorb moisture, bacteria or odors.

UV stabilized grade HDPE – performs well in environments where water, UV exposure, and other harsh elements are present, making it a popular choice for playgrounds, outdoor cabinetry, and marine construction.

Enhanced Stiffness HDPE – for applications that are expected to last for many years to come, enhanced HDPE sheet is 25% stiffer than original HDPE and offers superior flatness and consistency.

Engravable HDPE –Engravable sheet is available in a variety of color combinations that don’t need paint or refinishing, and makes for an excellent material alternative for signage and wayfinding, carnival games, and children’s furniture.
